Association of the Louisville Orchestra (ALO)
To assist in bringing the Louisville Orchestra to the attention of the community, broaden its base of support, promote greater interest in symphonic music, and to further music appreciation and education in the Louisville Community.
Since its inception in 1944, the ALO has been a catalyst for stimulating community-wide support for the Louisville Orchestra. As an organization, we have donated more than $1million to the Orchestra, and our members have contributed almost as many hours in volunteer efforts.
Although our day-to-day activities have always reflected the Orchestra’s contemporary needs and agendas, in recent years the ALO has expanded its traditional role. Besides promoting ticket sales, sponsoring the Young Artist Competition, providing hospitality, and raising funds, we are charting new directions in audience development and education, communications, community outreach, and membership.
As a member of the ALO, your opportunity to influence the character and quality of one of the region’s premier arts organizations is enormous. As the Louisville Orchestra reshapes its future to fit changing social and economic conditions, our volunteers are enjoying new access to responsibilities that help determine the focus and function of live performance symphonic music in our city.
Our expanding membership includes men and women of every age, profession, and background. Requirements are minimal and members have their choice of a variety of committee assignments and tasks. Call the Louisville Orchestra at (502) 587-8681 for more information.
