8:30 - 10:00 PM (ET) - Louisville Orchestra Concert

The Louisville Orchestra brings the In Harmony Tour to the Shelby County Fairgrounds for a lively evening of music on the racetrack at the Show Ring and Pavilion. This free outdoor event transforms the fairgrounds into a gathering place for the whole community, with family activities, ensemble performances, food trucks, and a full orchestral concert under the summer sky.

Audiences are invited to arrive early at 6:00PM to explore the fairgrounds, enjoy food from local vendors, and hear smaller ensemble performances before the main concert begins. As the evening unfolds, the full orchestra takes the stage with a program built around familiar melodies, patriotic favorites, and beloved classics that audiences of all ages will recognize.

The concert opens at 8:30PM with The Star-Spangled Banner and continues with the bright energy of Bernstein’s Candide Overture. Violin soloist brings dazzling virtuosity to Vieuxtemps’ Souvenir d’Amérique, a showpiece that blends classical brilliance with American themes. The patriotic spirit continues with Morton Gould’s American Salute and Copland’s powerful Fanfare for the Common Man.

Audiences will also hear the spiritual Deep River, Scott Joplin’s beloved The Entertainer, and the swinging rhythms of Sing, Sing, Sing. The program includes a movement from Anthony R. Green’s A Love Letter to Scotland, part of the Louisville Orchestra’s ongoing commitment to new music, alongside the comedic surprise of PDQ Bach’s 1712 Overture.

The evening concludes with one of the most recognizable film themes ever written, John Williams’ Main Title from Star Wars.

Bring your own chairs and for track seating or sit on the pavillion benches with friends and family for an evening of music at the Shelby County Fairgrounds.

Admission and parking is free and open to the public. Registration is recommended to receive updates, weather alerts, and event information.

This concert is made possible by a couple from Shelby County who love music and wish to share that love with the county.
