The Robert S. Whitney Society

Named for our esteemed founding Music Director, Maestro Robert S. Whitney, the Whitney Society was created to honor those donors who enroll in the planned giving program with the Louisville Orchestra Endowment. By including the Louisville Orchestra Endowment in your estate plans, you establish a legacy of innovative arts programming that will impact the city of Louisville and the surrounding region for years to come.

By creating a planned gift agreement, you will become a member of the Whitney Society and remembered in perpetuity.

Ways to Give

There are many ways to make a gift to benefit the Louisville Orchestra Endowment. Below are a few options for structuring your gift. We will explore together what works best for your personal situation and philanthropic goals. Please make all checks and transactions payable to the Louisville Orchestra Endowment Inc.

Bequest

A donor would have a written indication in their will directing that specific assets, a percentage, or remainder of the estate, will be transferred to the Louisville Orchestra Endowment at the donor’s death (or upon the death of the surviving spouse).

Retirement Assets / IRA Distribution

A donor names the Louisville Orchestra Endowment as the beneficiary of a retirement plan or IRA. Annual gifts from an IRA may fulfill the plan’s required minimum distribution during your lifetime. IRA distributions eliminate income tax on retirement plan assets and allows a donor to leave family other assets that carry less tax liability.

Gifts of Life Insurance

A donor names the Louisville Orchestra Endowment as beneficiary of an existing policy, either fully paid or partially paid, or a new policy. A donor has the ability to make a large gift for a minimal outlay of cash. Federal income tax deductions are available.

Living Trusts

Retain control of your assets throughout your lifetime and name the Louisville Orchestra Endowment as a beneficiary.

Charitable Remainder Trusts

Through an irrevocable contribution of cash, securities, or other property, you (or a designated beneficiary) can receive tax benefits and income during your lifetime.

Real Estate or Tangible Assets

Make an outright gift of real estate or another tangible asset to the Louisville Orchestra.
