Additional Info

Music Without Borders: Picutres at an Exhibition showcases a wide range of sounds, from bold new voices to timeless classics. You will hear Jupiter, Colossus by Chelsea Komschlies, one of this year’s Louisville Orchestra Creators Corps composers, whose music is known for its vivid energy and striking colors. Harpist Grace Roepke brings elegance and warmth to Debussy’s Sacred and Profane Dances, performed with strings. The evening culminates in Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, orchestrated by Maurice Ravel, a thrilling tour through musical “portraits” that capture everything from playful sketches to grand, triumphant scenes.

The event will also feature artwork by students from DuPont Manual High School’s Visual Arts magnet, offering a unique collaboration between music and visual art.

The result is a night of variety, creativity, and powerful performances, all designed to make world-class music accessible and engaging for everyone.

FAQs

What is Music Without Borders?

Music Without Borders is the Louisville Orchestra’s neighborhood concert series, designed to bring the energy and excitement of live symphonic music directly into the community. These concerts are relaxed, welcoming, and created for everyone, whether it is your first orchestra experience or your one-hundredth.

Where will these concerts take place?

We're so glad you asked! Our Music Without Borders Series is designed to span across multiple nights, at different locations around town. This time around, we will be performing two nights in a row.

The first performance will take place on Thursday, November 6th at The Jeffersonian, located at 10617 Taylorsville Road, Jeffersontown, KY 40299.

The second performance will take palce on Friday, November 7th at Neighborhood House, located at 201 N 25th Street, Louisville, KY 40212.

Both concerts will start promptly at 7:30PM.

How much are tickets?

All concerts in this series are free, but do require a ticket. RSVP today and let us know you're coming!

What if I am late or need to leave early?

If you arrive after the concert has begun, just be courteous to those around you and find a seat at an appropriate time, such as during applause or intermission.

How long is the concert?

Concert length varies, but we recommend planning for about an hour and a half. Digital programs include the specific music run-time, which can give you a better idea of the concert length. Please note that music run-time only covers the pieces being performed and does not account for speaking between pieces, applause, etc.

What should I wear to the concert?

Come as yourself! There’s no dress code, so wear what makes you feel comfortable. You’ll see everything from business and cocktail attire to casual and creative styles.

Can I use my phone during the performance?

We ask all audience members to silence their phones before the performance begins. Photos and videos are prohibited, as light from screens can be distracting.
