ROARchestra is back! The Louisville Orchestra and your Louisville Zoo have partnered together again to present a wildly entertaining musical evening. Bring your blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy live music under the stars at the Zoo’s renovated Oasis stage.

Set sail on a musical journey where the smooth sounds of the ’70s and ’80s come to life in a unique orchestral experience. Let the elegant strings and brassy sounds sweep you away as this concert blends together the lush harmonies and iconic melodies of yacht rock legends like Hall & Oats, Toto, Christopher Cross, The Doobie Brothers, Jimmy Buffett and Steely Dan, all conducted under the baton of beloved ROARchestra conductor, Bob Bernhardt. Immerse yourself in a wave of summer nostalgia as rich orchestral arrangements breathe new life into classic yacht rock hits, creating an evening of music where the rhythms of soft rock meet the majestic power of symphonic sound.

Gates open at 7PM, with the performance to follow at 8:30PM. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to explore select Zoo areas before the performance begins.

  • Non-alcoholic beverages

Outside alcohol is prohibited.

Concessions, snacks and adult beverages will be available for purchase throughout the evening. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy food and beverages before the concert begins.

What is ROARchestra?

ROARchestra is a collaborative concert featuring the Louisville Orchestra at the Louisville Zoo. This Yacht-Rock themed concert will be presented on Saturday, July 11th.  The concert is expected to start at 8:30 p.m. After regular daily hours end, the Louisville Zoo will re-open at 7 p.m. for ticket buyers.

Is ROARchestra a family-friendly event?

ROARchestra is concert for everyone to enjoy!  It is ideal for a family outing, night out with friends or as a special date night.

What can I expect from the concert?

The Louisville Orchestra, under the baton of conductor longtime ROARchestra conductor Bob Bernhardt, will present a vibrant mix of classic summertime tunes you already know and love. 

When will the concert end?

The run time of the concert is subject to many factors. The anticipated time is 1 hour and 40 minutes including a 15 minute intermission.

Can I bring food, drinks, or alcohol?

Guests can bring food and non-alcoholic beverages.  Alcohol may not be brought into the Louisville Zoo.  Food and beverages will also be available for sale in the concert area. Note: anyone attempting to bring in alcohol will be barred from entry.

Can I see the animals?

The Louisville Zoo will re-open at 7 p.m. following regular daily hours. ROARchestra ticket buyers are welcome to venture to the Oasis Field for the concert or enjoy the collection of animals until 8 p.m. At 8 p.m., all ticket buyers must make their way to the Oasis Field for the concert.
