Captain and Tennille

Role:

Captain & Tennille were an iconic American soft-rock duo comprised of singer-keyboardist Daryl "The Captain" Dragon. Dominating the 1970s charts with their breezy pop sound, they are best known for mega-hits like "Love Will Keep Us Together" and "Do That to Me One More Time"

The two met in 1971 in San Francisco when Dragon was auditioning musicians for an ecological musical Tennille had written called Mother Earth. They began performing together and formed Captain & Tennille in 1974. Their debut single, "Love Will Keep Us Together" (a Neil Sedaka cover), became a massive smash. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks and won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1976.

The duo followed up their success with a string of hits, including "Muskrat Love" (1976) and "Do That to Me One More Time" (1979). Their immense popularity led to hosting their own network television variety series, The Captain and Tennille, on ABC from 1976 to 1977.
