Andrea (“Annie”) Daigle, violin, has been a member of the Louisville Orchestra since 2016. Prior to her time in Louisville, she completed a fellowship at the New World Symphony, where she performed regularly in leadership positions and was featured as a soloist. She also performs as a substitute musician with the Cleveland Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony.
During the summer season, Annie enjoys performing at the Lakes Area Music Festival. Previous summer activities include the Artosphere and Britt Festival Orchestras, the New York Symphonic Ensemble Japan Tour, and studies at the Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto Festival USA, and Aspen Music Festival. She received both MM and BM degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where her primary teachers were William Preucil and David Updegraff.
What do you enjoy most about performing with the Louisville Orchestra?
I am very proud of our innovation and willingness to think outside the box! Being a member of this ensemble has regularly challenged me to re-evaluate the way I think about music as an art form, and the roles orchestras and arts organizations can and should play in our communities.
In what ways do you think the Louisville Orchestra can make the greatest impact on our community?
I think we have a unique ability to create a safe and inclusive space for absolutely everyone, whether it is in the concert hall, around the city, or out in the state. There are few places these days where we can go, without the constant distraction and noise of technology, simply to sit quietly, focus on a single thing, and share an experience. I hope we are able to provide that for our community.
Who is your favorite composer or musician?
Prokofiev is probably my favorite composer.
What are some things that inspire you as a musician?
I love collaborating, and I learn so much from the musicians around me; working closely with people who challenge me to try new things or think in different ways is the best inspiration and source of growth!
What are some of your hobbies outside the LO?
I love reading and spending time outdoors! I also recently started kickboxing, which is very fun!
