What do you enjoy most about performing with the Louisville Orchestra?

We do lots of varied concerts which keeps things interesting and fresh!

In what ways do you think the Louisville Orchestra can make the greatest impact on our community?

By continuing our work of bringing music to everyone.

What is your favorite type of orchestral music to perform, and why?

It's hard to beat Mahler Symphonies, the string parts are so much fun to play.

Who is your favorite composer or musician?

Ludwig van Beethoven

Do you have a Louisville Orchestra or event that is especially meaningful or memorable?

Playing in Mammoth Cave with Yo-Yo Ma is something I'll never forget.

What are some things that inspire you as a musician?

No performance is ever perfect so there's always something to work on and strive for.

What do you love most about being part of the Louisville community?

The food is amazing, and the public parks are beautiful.

What’s something unique, surprising, fun, or interesting about you?

I originally wanted to play the Double Bass when I was five, but my mom said I was too small so I started on violin instead. Ironically, I'm now six and a half feet tall.

What are some of your hobbies outside the LO?

I have a lot of hobbies! I love creating music on various synthesizers and drum machines, including modular systems. I also enjoy homebrewing and trying different bourbons, grilling and smoking foods, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Timberwolves, and going birding with my wife! And NOTHING beats being a Dad!

How do you stay connected with the community outside of your performances?

I make sure to engage with our audience members whenever I have a chance, and I tend to have lots of conversations with people when I'm out and about.

Favorite orchestral work?

Beethoven 9

What's on your playlist (what song are you currently into)?

Sampha - Suspended. But I listen to a LOT of funk and classic rock. And my son loves the song Tieduprightnow by Parcels so that's on a lot, they're great!
