Gabriel Ramos won a position with the Louisville Orchestra in October 2023 after completing his master’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he was the recipient of the Louis and Harold Price Foundation Scholarship, the Herbert T. Clark Foundation Scholarship, as well as a number of other substantial academic and musical awards. As a child, many of his first experiences playing in orchestra were in the Triangle Youth Music ensembles in Raleigh, North Carolina. After attending CIM, Gabriel was the 2nd-chair cello in the Akron Symphony Orchestra, in the cello section of the Canton Symphony Orchestra, while also subbing in the Charlotte and North Carolina Symphonies; making a few concerto performances here and there. As a student, he attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Meadowmount School, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Sitka Cello Seminar. He loves house hunting and searching for the best barbecue in town!
