What do you enjoy most about performing with the Louisville Orchestra?

I love how much variety of different styles of music we are able to perform. I also love to see kids and younger audiences enjoying our programs.

In what ways do you think the Louisville Orchestra can make the greatest impact on our community?

I believe that what we do best is bring different people together in a peaceful and communal setting. This visceral act of shared community can help to break down the many societal barriers that are in place.

What is your favorite type of orchestral music to perform, and why?

As a violist, I love playing anything Brahms due to his luscious viola parts.

Who is your favorite composer or musician?

I'm a big fan of the band Phish. They are also very well known for pushing boundaries with their music.

Do you have a Louisville Orchestra or event that is especially meaningful or memorable?

I'll never forget playing Pines of Rome with my son in the audience. It is one of my favorite pieces and for him to experience it live was very meaningful. I'll also always remember the experience of playing in Mammoth Cave. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

What are some things that inspire you as a musician?

I'm inspired by all of my other colleagues that bring their musical expertise into our rehearsals and performances.

What do you love most about being part of the Louisville community?

I love how bike-able and park friendly Louisville is. That respect for the outdoors can only come from the community itself.

What’s something unique, surprising, fun, or interesting about you?

I'm able to improvise pretty freely on the violin and viola.

What are some of your hobbies outside the LO?

I love to bike around Louisville (or anywhere I travel) and do crossword puzzles.

How do you stay connected with the community outside of your performances?

I'm active with my church, Jeff St Baptist Community. I also play in the Joe Piano band!

Favorite orchestral work?

Mahler 2, Brahms 2, Pines of Rome, Daphnis and Chloe

What's on your playlist (what song are you currently into)?

I'm enjoying many podcasts these days.
